Highlights for the 2024 – 2025 School Year:
1. CGS (Catechesis of the Good Shepherd) for ages 3 – 5
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, also known as CGS, is a Montessori-style catechetical program that helps children develop their relationship with God in a developmentally appropriate way.
The CGS Atrium in our Lower Church is a specially designed learning environment with hand-made materials for the kids to interact with. The hands-on materials in the atrium are designed to meet the developmental needs of the children and allow them to pray and contemplate the presence of God.
This class will be taught by Sarah Ku.
2. Pre-First Communion & Post-First Communion for ages 6 – 10
We will have two classes for elementary school – one focused on preparation to receive First Communion and one for post-first-communion formation.
Pre First Communion will be taught by Rainbow Lau & Ribi Leung, Post-First Communion will be taught by Joanne Chao.
3. Middle School for ages 11 – 13
Last year we revamped Middle School to follow a new format: 1) Praise & Worship 2) Games 3) Catechetical Instruction (30min) 4) Community Circle
This year we’ll continue this structure, as the different segments of activity kept the students engaged and interested. The syllabus includes 5 series: a) Sacraments, b) Doctrine, c) Moral Formation, d) Service & Mission, 5) Prayer & Spirituality.
Middle School will be taught by Rosemary DeAragon.
4. Confirmation for Freshmen & Sophomores
This year we’ll have a pre-confirmation preparation class for freshman & sophomores who haven’t yet been confirmed.
We’ve secured a great teacher – a former seminarian who spent 11 years of formation with the Legionaries. Michael works full time in youth & young adult ministry at St. Thomas Aquinas and will be leading our Confirmation program. We are excited to offer this sacramental prep course to our Freshmen & Sophomores!
Confirmation Prep will be taught by Michael Sternhagen.
5. Post-Confirmation / Watermark Leaders for Juniors & Seniors
This is an exciting year as Patrick Ku is re-launching Watermark Youth Ministry for our high schoolers (and mature middle schoolers) on September 20th!
Our CM class for high schoolers in their Junior & Senior year will double as a leadership formation program. This is an opportunity for the older high schoolers to learn critical leadership skills that they can put into action at Watermark, which will be held on Friday nights in the Lower Church.
